FLAGPOLE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
TOOLS & MATERIALS NEEDED FOR INSTALLATION:
- POST HOLE DIGGER/SHOVEL
- LEVEL
- TAPE MEASURE
- MIXING CONTAINER
- QUICK SETTING CEMENT and Water
- GRAVEL OR SAND to fill 3”-5” in bottom of hole
STEP 1. SELECT FLAGPOLE LOCATION. CALL 811 or local utility location service BEFORE YOU DIG. CHECK FOR UNDERGROUND SPRINKLERS, WATER LINES AND ELECTRICAL LINES (MAKE SURE YOUR FLAG HAS CLEARANCE TO FLY IN ALL DIRECTIONS)
STEP 2. DIG A HOLE APPROX. 24” DEEP BY 12” IN DIAMETER
STEP 3. PLACE APPROX. 3-5” OF GRAVEL IN HOLE (ALLOWS FOR DRAINAGE) until top of flagpole sleeve is 1”-2” above ground level. After cementing CONCEAL EXPOSED SLEEVE AREA ABOVE GROUND WITH MULCH, DIRT, FLOWER BED
STEP 4. PLACE GROUND SLEEVE INTO GRAVEL/SAND—TO PREVENT CONCRETE FROM FLOWING INSIDE the Sleeve.
STEP 5. MIX CEMENT AND Carefully POUR AROUND GROUND SLEEVE UNTIL HOLE IS FILLED. Do not allow any cement to fall into the sleeve. Use a rag or wad of paper towel to block top of sleeve until you have completed the cementing process.
STEP 6. INSERT THICKEST POLE SECTION INTO GROUND SLEEVE (CAREFULLY—CEMENT WILL BE WET), SWEDGE (thinner) END UP. USE A LEVEL TO MAKE SURE POLE/SLEEVE IS STRAIGHT and level. Carefully REMOVE POLE SECTION AFTER LEVELLING so as not to move the sleeve.
ALLOW CONCRETE TO CURE FOR AT LEAST 24 HRS.
STEP 7. ASSEMBLE FLAGPOLE, ATTACH BALL, CLIPS, AND FLAG. Secure rope to Cleat.
STEP 8. INSERT INTO GROUND SLEEVE. ENJOY OLD GLORY!
